From the Rector

21st October 2021

Dear Friends

I hope this email finds you all well and safe

Sunday Services will be as normal this weekend, as are the midweek communions next week. There will be as always Evening Prayers time at St Peter's on Wednesday 27th Oct at 4.30pm led by Des Colechin, however morning prayer and the other evening services will not be happening in that week; they return on Monday 1st November.

Sunday 31st October sees two Benefice Services. At 3pm at St Michael's we come together to pray for the World's Leaders as they gather for the COP26 Summit in Glasgow at our 'Climate Service'. Please do come and join us as the future of our Planet has to be a massive concern for us all as Christians, remembering we are called to be 'Stewards of Creation'. Equally there will also be a Benefice Eucharist at 10am that morning at St Peter's, please note there will be no service that day at either All Saints or St James.

At the 'Climate Service' there will be a chance to look at and try the following 'Green' products:

1) recycled paper toilet rolls with 50% profit donated to WaterAid to bring safe drinking water to populations without

2) hand soap refill to reduce plastic waste

3) bars of hemp soap to reduce palm oil use - many commercial plantations clear native rainforest, degrade the environment and jeopardise wildlife populations

4) a beverage made from waste bread reducing food waste

This year we will be remembering our departed loved ones at all the midweek communions beginning on All Souls Day itself (2nd Nov) at All Saints Winterbourne Down. As we remembered folks by name at our Remembering Services in the Summer, we are going to use this year a time of silent prayer within the Eucharist to call to mind our own special memories of departed loved ones. Please join us at one of these four midweek All Souls Eucharists, one in each church.

Remembrance Sunday Services this year are as Follows:

All Saints 10am Communion followed by Act of Remembrance in Church Yard

St James 10am Benefice Family Service with Act of Remembrance

St Peter's 9.45am Communion followed by Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial with British Legion service at 3pm

St Michael's 10am Service of Remembrance with Act of Remembrance at Whiteshill Common at Noon.

I hope there will be something here for everyone on this very important day for our Nation, as we remember all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in armed conflict.

Please do contact me if you would like a visit from one of our Team, remember we are all here to serve and care for you.

God Bless and Stay Safe
